Ainy Rainwater has been writing and publishing short stories, essays, and novels in various genres for about 30 years. She lives in the greater Houston area with her husband and rescue dogs. She enjoys reading, writing, playing guitar and percussion, gardening, knitting, tea, baking and other kitchen improvisations, daydreaming, and wasting time online.
Her novels are available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Apple, Kobo, Smashwords, and other bookstores. She is presently working on a chick lit fantasy series as well as a number of side projects, including a sequel to If Wishes Were Spaceships, a science fiction novel published in March 2016.
She is also known for the digital pop which she makes under the name Gymshoes. “Everest Sunrise” was featured in the documentary What It Takes. After hurricanes Katrina and Rita she released an EP of songs, A Tropical Depression, the profits of which go to benefit the American Red Cross. Gymshoes albums are available from iTunes, Amazon, and other online stores. For more about Gymshoes music, please see Gymshoesmusic.com, which has liner notes, links to social media, streaming music, and much more.
You can find the author on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (also as Gymshoes on Facebook). She occasionally contributes to the group food blog, The Usual Suspects, and posts short miscellaneous things on The Mighty Microblog. A Truant Disposition is Ainy Rainwater’s official author site.
A Truant Disposition: Idleness
I got this domain on a whim and content will likely reflect my “truant disposition”, idleness, relaxation, meditations, and lightheartedness. The blog (aka “Idleness”) will be very chilled out and laid back. I moderate all comments and would appreciate it if you took my posts lightly, in the spirit in which they were intended, and didn’t get spun up about something as inconsequential as the things posted here. Good karma etc.
Ainy Rainwater is the nom de plume I’m using for the e-publication of some things which haven’t been published elsewhere, as well as things that are not only out of print, but whose original publication was so obscure that it’s likely no one will know or care that the author’s name has changed. (I have all the rights necessary to republish as e-books.) If you know my real name I’d appreciate it if you don’t spread it around. I like my privacy—and I like the name Ainy Rainwater, too. 😀
I am the “Truant” of early posts here and whether I post as Ainy Rainwater or the Truant is probably somewhat arbitrary. In other words, I haven’t decided yet.
This blog is messy: in content, style, design…everything…messy. If this bothers you, I’m sorry, but you may take some comfort in knowing that my fiction is less messy and that I put far more hours of thought and editing into the novels than I do this blog. A Truant Disposition is most definitely not about writing well. (I’m not sure what it’s about, to be honest.)
